The competitive eaters won the 2020 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eat Contest on Saturday (July 4) at Coney Island, New York. “I think both of us are hoping to break the existing world record of 45 in 10 minutes but weather conditions got in the way, but we’ll definitely be back to set a higher number.” Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo are winners again. “To be the first person to beat Sonya Thomas at hot dogs is surreal,” she said. ![]() She has also appeared at 11 consecutive hot dog eating competitions and is a champion in other eating competitions including deep-fried okra, Maine lobster and baked beans. Thomas has won each women’s hot dog eating event since the competition was divided into separate men’s and women’s competitions in 2011. In taking the top slot, Sudo ended the legacy of one of the most beloved figures in competitive eating, Thomas. In June 2013, she beat Chestnut in a rib-eating contest.
